Drugged Off My Ass

****

Aside from the nagging pain in my wrist, life is treating
me well. Today, I've officially gone a full week without
letting my house get messy. I even did laundry
yesterday...One handed. I'm so proud.

I promised I'd explain how I hurt my wrist once it was
feeling better (it really isn't feeling all that better,
but I'm getting used to the pain), so here goes. I tripped
over a tablecloth at work and fell. I had a bra in my left
hand, so I caught my full weight on my right hand (which
I've broken in the past and has been giving me problems
lately). So, that's how it happened. At first, I was more
concerned with the rug burn on my knees than with my
wrist, but by 2pm my fingers started going cold and numb.
So, Tamara sent me to have it looked at. 3 hours at Naval
Hospital and I came out with a sling and a splint. I have
to go back in 10 days (8 days, now) to have it x-rayed and
to see if there's any breaks they didn't catch the first
time. I don't know how long I'll end up one-handed, but I
sucks. I hate the sling. People treat me like I'm
handicapped when I wear it and the splint isn't much
better. I can't move my arm (duh, kind of the point). I
took it off so I could write this, which I know I'm not
supposed to, but I'm on pain meds and can't feel the pain
at the moment. Not much at least. The ER doctor tried to
scare me into wearing the stupid sling/splint combo by
saying if I didn't I'd do permanent damage to my wrist and
would need surgery to fix it. Blah, blah, blah. It isn't
that big of a deal. I fell to the ground, not from a
building. Anyway, that's the story of the wrist.

This weekend has been 100% uneventful. The only downside
to having a clean house, is that I feel like I have
NOTHING to do. I had 3 loads of laundry yesterday, which I
finished in a little over 2 hours. Some light tidy-up
(vacuumed, swept, picked up some toys) and that was it.
The rest of the day I sat around, drugged off my ass while
the girls played. I put the toys back in the toy box and
went to bed when they did. Nothing much exciting going on
here. I know this week isn't going to be too much fun.
I'll be one-armed and I know if they even keep me at work,
I'll be in Room 1 greeting people. I'm one of the top
talents! Greeting people is for the moronic blonde new
girls that can't remember their own bra size let alone
understand the features and benefits of over 30 different
bras. Now I'm just being bitter. My invalid time will fly
by quickly I'm sure.

I'd better but my splint back on before the Vicodin wears
off and I feel the full wrath of not listening to my
doctor. I'm so hard-headed. Ciao
