A Turn For The Different

****

My day did not go as expected and my horoscope was
anything but right. Still, despite that I had a good day.
I kept my open-minded perspective and saw that nothing
majorly bad happened and I made it through anyway.

Gen couldn't do coffee this morning, so I just took my
time getting ready for work. I bought some new make-up
yesterday (Heavenly Face, the newest line to VS) and it
gave me time to play with it. I love the all-over face
highlighter. It made me look less tired (although why I'm
tired, I have no idea). I also got the gilded eye pencil,
which is basically a cream eyeshadow in pencil form. It
goes well with my brown eyes and makes a great brow
highlighter. Anyhow, I was in a great mood when I left the
house. Relaxed from my bath, feeling thin because I could
fit back in my black slacks and pretty because I had new
make-up on.

There was one new girl working when I got there. Alexis.
She was a little too bubbly for me, but in all honesty I
though she was doing a pretty good job for having only
worked a few days over a week. She was greeting clients,
helping them with their needs, offering credit. I couldn't
complain about her performance. She's doing better than
some girls who've been here for years and should know
better.

The moment my day took a turn for the different (I can't
say worst, because I just didn't see it that way) was when
Jenny told me I had a phone call. The only people who call
me at work are Annie's school, because she's old enough to
tell them where I work. So, it's never good. Last time
they called me at work was when she had lice. A frightened
flutter passed through my stomach as I answered the phone.
Turns out she had a 104 degree temperature. Gen was
willing to pick her up, but 3 of my managers where there
(why, I don't know) and all 3 of them said I should and
could go if I so needed. I took them up on it, because I
just couldn't think about work at that point. Annie is
never sick. I couldn't choose work over her when it's so
rare that she ever needs anything from me. So, after 45
minutes at work, I left to pick my baby up from school.
She's pumped full of children's Tylenol and electrolyte
fluids now and is sleeping peacefully. Much cooler. She
was playing computer games before bed, so I know she can't
be too bad off.

I have some paperwork to do, but I think I'll do it in
bed. Annie's accelerated testing paperwork (which I STILL
haven't done) and a survey for Kiki's primary caregiver's
re-certification. I love Edith to death, of course she'll
be getting rave reviews from me. Off I go. Ciao until
tomorrow.
