I'll Take What I Can Get

****

I'm very happy with the way the day went. I couldn't have
asked for a better outcome. I got out of the house on
time, got the girls to school and therapy on time, met Gen
for coffee, went to work and actually had a GOOD day. It
wasn't spectacular, but I'll take what I can get.

Snookums called first thing this morning (about 7am). He's
probably the reason I got up on time and actually had the
wherewithal to get out of bed. I had to answer my phone.
We talked for about 20 minutes, then he had to get off the
phone for colors. I've been missing him a lot lately, so
just hearing his voice was a great pick-me-up. I smiled
for no reason this morning.

This morning when I got on the scale (for the first time
outside of a doctor's appointment since the whole ordeal
ended) I was a beautiful 4 pounds lighter. Without so much
as withholding a single morsel of food. All my water
retention and bloating has subsided and my pants fit
again! It's lovely. This put me in a good mood right off
the bat. Just as much as Snookums' phone call.

Work was great. Thankfully, I didn't have to work with any
new girls my first day back. I was too busy making sure I
had my shit together, let alone babysit a bunch of new
girls. There isn't much they can do wrong at VS, but they
all seem to find the 2 or 3 things they can screw up on. I
don't remember being that green when I first started. I
pretty much just jumped in head first. That's me, though.
I find my comfort zone and thrive in it. No one really
asked why I'd been gone so long. Jenny covered for me and
took some of the focus off of me. It was nice not having
to field a hundred questions about why I took 2 weeks off.
Everyone needs some personal time.

When I got home, I had a package from Snookums he sent
from Dubai (the last time he was there). It wasn't much,
just a few trinkets. A picture with layers of sand from
the different United Arab Emirates. A different color sand
from each country. Some magnets and Dubai t-shirts for me
and the girls. Touristy stuff, but it was nice getting
something from him. He's such a sweetheart. Too bad he
can't fit a Persian rug on the ship to bring home. That
would be a great souvenir from his trip to the middle
east! Wishful thinking, I know.

I hate to cut this short, but I'm really tired. I think I
will retire to my bedroom now. I had a good day. I'm so
grateful for that. Really, I am. Hopefully tomorrow is
just as good or better. Ciao.
