Armpit Fractions

****

I've got a headache. The computer screen seems unusually
bright. I know it isn't any brighter than it ever is, it
just seems that way and it's not pleasing to my eyes. I'm
full of complaints, but since I don't feel like dwelling
on them, I won't. It might just depress me (or you)and who
needs that?

Kiki had therapy this morning. She was supposed to have
therapy on Monday too, but me being the wonderful mother I
am, forgot about it because I was too busy thinking about
myself and my needs. She didn't have therapy last week
because it was Spring Break for the Bremerton School
District (and pretty much all the other one's too), so
that threw me off a little. I'm back on track now, though.
So, her primary therapist, Debbie, wants to add on an
additional 30 minutes of one-on-one speech therapy after
the preschool class because she doesn't feel that Kiki is
getting enough during the class. Her social skills are
starting to improve, but verbally she's still behind the
other children. So, Wednesday's she'll be staying until
11am. That means she'll be spending 3 hours and 30 minutes
a week in therapy. I hope the additional help works.

On the other hand, Annie's teacher sent home the
paperwork, permission slip and parent observation forms
for Annie's Exceptional Child testing. I swear I'm stuck
on the completely opposite ends of the same cognitive
spectrum. Slow child-smart child. Maybe this next one will
be somewhere comfortably in the middle? I can only hope.

Work was trying today. I feel really tired and not
entirely focused, so staying on task was hard. It would
have been easier if it was busy or at least steady, but it
wasn't. It was dead as could be. Which left me with little
to do. I found myself playing little games with myself.
For the first half of my shift I was in the wardrobing
center and I amused myself by keeping a running tally of
how many woman didn't shave their armpits this morning (I
ascertained this knowledge while providing bra fittings).
I counted 6 out of 15 and 1 without deodorant. My count
may not be totally accurate, because some of the 15 had
long sleeved shirts on. The one with BO was unfortunately
in a tank top. I named my game armpit fractions since
basically 6 over 15 reduces down to 2/5. 2 out of 5 woman
had hairy armpits today. Yes, it was that slow of a day.
The other half of my shift I was at the cash wrap, which
was slightly better than armpit fractions. I got a couple
cards, played in the make-up and put on enough glitter to
land a plane simply by the reflection coming off my arms
and legs. Finally 5pm rolled around and I got to come
home.

That's my day. Not very interesting, but not a bad day,
either. I'm going to bed now. Ciao.
