Let's Try To Maintain

***

I got so little sleep last night, I'm still wondering how
I functioned today and was actually half-way productive.
The mountain of laundry that is perpetually haunting me
most of the time has finally been eradicated. I stayed up
until 5am washing, sorting, folding and hanging 7 loads of
laundry. I didn't feel the urge to start until 9pm, so
that's what caused the all-nighter.

I'd planned on sleeping as long as the girls would let me
(which can be extended if I give Kiki a clean diaper,
something to eat and drink and bring her to bed with me).
But, Gen called needing directions to the Starbucks in
Port Orchard and as soon as I got off the phone with her,
Snookums called from Dubai and talked for 20 minutes. Then
Gen stopped by to borrow a pair of shoes, so I was fully
awake at that point and just got up at 8am.

I got out of bed easily this morning, so I took advantage
of that and with the resolve of a mother seeking Easter
Bunny photos, I got the girls bathed, dressed in their
matching Laura Ashley dresses, white tights, mary Jane's
and cable knit sweaters. It just isn't Easter without the
white accessories. Then we headed to the mall. It was
pretty crowded for a Sunday, but there wasn't really a
line for the Easter Bunny. We were done in about 30
minutes. Then we had lunch in the food court. The girls
got so many looks. Being their mother, I always think
they're cute, so I'm kind of immune to it, but I swear
about 20 people commented on how cute they were. I think
it was the matching outfits. It sure did make it easier to
keep track of them. I only had to look for one color! The
pale green of their full skirts.

After the mall, I did some grocery shopping. Only the
second grocery shopping trip since Snookums' has been
gone. Pathetic, huh? The girls were so excited to have
variety, they started ransacking the bags faster than I
could bring them in from the car. They went through a 10
pack of fruit snacks within the day. The scary thing was,
it was Kiki who was tearing through them! That little girl
can pack away the food.

Kiki didn't get her nap today and was starting to get a
little cranky and I had a MONSTER headache from lack of
sleep, so around 6:30pm, Kiki and I went into my cool,
dark bedroom and turned on cartoons. Annie was into Hannah
Montana in the living room, so we left her to that. We
couldn't have been back there more than 10 minutes before
I fell asleep. I woke up around 8:30pm, with Kiki curled
up under my chin her back to my chest. She is so sweet
when she's asleep. I gently transferred her to her crib
and ushered Annie off to bed as well and now my day has
finally drawn to a close. I think I'll make myself a
salad, then crawl back in bed. I have nothing I need to
do. My house is clean! Man, that feels good. Now let's try
to maintain this feeling...Ciao
