Developmentally Delayed...Gifted

***

The past couple of days have felt like their all about
Annie. Yesterday I had my parent-teacher conference (which
are usually about 15 or 20 minutes, but not when it comes
to Annie. It was 45 minutes long. I hate that conferences
are always about bashing Annie and her negative behaviors.
I had to go back today and spend another hour talking with
the school therapist and her teacher to discuss different
ways to address Annie's issues. They all came down to one
thing. Annie is too smart for the 2nd grade, is bored
stiff and needs to be doing something else. It's too late
to have her tested for the gifted program this year, but
she'll be tested in July and if she passes (which I'll
make sure she does) she'll go to Viewridge next year,
which has an exceptional gifted program. It would require
me to work less hours (because I'd have to pick her up and
drop her off at school. She's worth it, especially if it
makes her happier in the long run. I've got a child on
each end of the educational spectrum. It's a wide spectrum
too. Developmentally Delayed...Gifted. They're literally
at opposite ends. As a mother, I've got my work cut out
for me.

I'd love to write more, but I don't want to. That didn't
make any sense, but I know what I meant. I'm going to bed.
I'm tired and I actually get to sleep in in the morning.
I'm stoked. Ciao and goodnight.
