The Value Of Saying "NO"

****

It occured to me today that I'm feeling really runned
down. I'm tired, I haven't been getting much exercise, I
haven't been eating very well and I've been working LOTS.
I can't seem to turn my fellow associates away when they
ask for my help. Whenever someone can't cover their shift,
they always call me, because I never say no. Tomorrow I
was supposed to be off. I was looking forward to sleeping
in, having some time to relax and chill, but JT (one of
the other Jennifer's at work) called because she needed
someone to cover her 3:30pm-8pm shift. I asked Snookums if
it was okay (hoping he'd say no, because I couldn't). He
said it was, so now I'm working tomorrow, too. I've got
Wednesday off (at this point), so I refuse to cover any
more shifts this week. I've got 30 scheduled hours and 7
and a half on-call hours (they call me in if someone calls
in sick or needs to leave early). It may not sound like a
lot to you full-time working folks out there, but I've
also got the girls', Snookums and the holidays to deal
with. We still don't have a Christmas tree! How sad is
that? I'm not complaining, though. Work is great. I love
being there, I just need to learn the value of saying "NO"
once in awhile.

Speaking of work. Today was insane! Christmas shopping has
reached its frenzied crescendo. We had lines going out the
door yet again and I spent my entire 4 and a half hour
shift at the register. I managed to pull out 3 credit
cards, which is good considering the crowds and the rush.
The frenzy makes me tired, but I still love what I do.
Rebecca (the district manager) gave me an angel reward for
doubling my credit goal consistently over the past month.
It was only $10.00, but I was honored, considering they
don't give those out much. They like me! They really,
really like me!

Sorry this entry was all about work. Right now, I really
don't have anything else going on. Once Christmas has
passed there should be a break until the semi-annual sale
early January, then another break before Valentine's Day.
It's intense working retail at Christmas, but I can handle
it. I'm off to take a shower and get ready for bed. I
bought a cute little negligee on sale today and I'm hoping
Snookums will help put me to sleep, if you know what I
mean! hint:hint! Ciao.
