My Life Thus Far

Dreams and Joys

****

Man I'm pooped. I worked from 7:30am-4:30pm. Time flew by
and the day went smoothly, but MAN, was it busy! We opened
at 8am this morning, which is much earlier than usual
(holiday hours are in full swing), but I don't think our
clients know it, so the first 2 hours were dead. I think
we made 6 sales in that time, totally about $300. Nothing
major, but by noon, we were swamped. It was like war.
People squeezing into our tiny store, lines going out the
door. It was fun. Mainly because right when it was getting
really bad, I was OFF!

Today is a very special day, indeed. Dan came to visit us!
Completely out of the blue, he called Snookums the day
before yesterday and told him he'd be in town and wanted
to see us. Dan is like an endangered species in our lives.
Snookums saw him this past summer, but it's been over a
year since the girls and I saw him last (not since our
vacation on the Oregon coast last year). Snookums loves
his dad and looks up to him so much. You can see the
admiration in his eyes when they're together. I'm glad Dan
could come see us before Snookums goes on WestPac and Dan
heads back to Sweden (he's been in Stockholm on business).
We went out to dinner tonight, we spent some time sitting
around catching up, took pictures of the girls with
grandpa, then tomorrow, just like a storm, Dan blows out
of town again. He never sticks around long. It must be
hard being a businessman, but maybe the traveling could be
fun at times.

I bought Dan a little token gift. I mean, what are we
going to buy the man that could have anything he wants?
So, I picked him up a really sweet card and a cherry wood
picture frame with "GRANDKIDS dreams and joys" engraved
into it. I'm going to print out one of the pictures I took
tonight and put in there. I think that would be something
so precious even all his money couldn't buy it!

Well, I'd better get to it, so I can go to sleep. I'm
really tired. I hope Snookums isn't frisky tonight. I
really want to get a full 8 hours. Ciao!
