Arbitrarily Cranky Ass

****

I got off on the wrong foot this morning. I was feeling a
little down in the dumps, I didn't want to get out of bed
and I just felt fat and ugly. Classic signs Aunt Flow is
around the corner. I didn't get out of bed until 11am.
Which meant I didn't go to the gym, Annie was late to
school (by about an hour, they'd started 2 hours late due
to the snow) and I just made it in time for work at
12:30pm. Thanks to Snookums. He took over getting the
girls ready, while doing dishes, cleaning the house,
washing sheets (Kiki's wet diaper-leaked crib sheets) and
running Roomba. I tried on 12 outfits, found 1 I only
looked mildly obese in and called it good.

Snookums took the girls to school and daycare, while I sat
in the car and sulked. I did, however, find one silver
lining to life while waiting for him to drop Kiki off. I
was sitting in the front seat of the car with my eyes
closed, when the clouds opened just enough for the sun's
rays to shine on my face. It was so warm and comforting, I
couldn't help but smile. I probably would have been
irritated if my eyes had been open, but since they were
shut, it was kind of nice. After dropping the girls off,
Snookums took me to Starbucks for a gingerbread latte,
then dumped my arbitrarily cranky ass off at work.

Work was the turning point. It always is. I can't be a
cranky bitch at work. It doesn't fit the climate (a hot
pink store only allows for happiness and delight). So,
within 30 minutes, I'd stuffed my attitude in my locker
with my red VS scarf and $300 Coach bag. I got 4 cards
today, which was good, considering it wasn't terribly busy
and no one else got any. I got our credit percentage up to
6.4% and it should be at 6%, so I did my part. By the time
Snookums came back for me at 4:30pm, I was in a much
better mood.

We took the girls to McDonald's for dinner and to play in
the play area. Of course Annie loved it, but to my
surprise, Kiki loved it even more! She's finally able to
climb the stairs and go down the slides on her own and she
derived so much delight from this that she was laughing
hysterically and making all the other parents laugh. She
wasn't laughing so much when it was time to go, though.
The girl screamed and kicked the entire way home, all
through the bedtime ritual, until she finally fell asleep.
I'm sure it was just as much sleepiness as it was being
pissed off aboutleaving the play area, but that's one of
the unfortunate developments of growing up. Getting
mommy's attitude!

While we were at McDonald's, I went into the potty to
tinkle and noticed pink on the tissue. No, it isn't the
UTI acting up again, it was my period. For once! It came
without any major disturbances. I mean, I knew it was
coming. I had the normal little signs, but nothing
terrible. It's on time and it isn't killing me! At least
something about my body is working right.

Snookums and I are going to take a shower now. I couldn't
bring myself to do it this morning and now I REALLY feel
like I need one. I'll ask Snookie if he'll scrub my
back for me. I love that...Ciao.
