Dead Roses, Orange Tulips

****

"We eschew the path of mundane power, for the healing
power of the spirit naturally follows the path of the
spirit; it abides not in the stone of fine buildings, nor
in the gold of images, nor in the silk from which robes
are fashioned, nor even in the paper of holy writ, but in
the ineffable substance of the mind and the heart of man.
We are free to follow its dictates as laid down by the
great teachers-to sublimate our heart's instincts and
purify our thoughts.

Through actual practice in his daily life, man well
fulfills the aim of all religion, whatever his
denomination."

You have no idea how grateful I am that Halloween is over!
Well, Halloween in my house is over. Annie has her candy,
both girls are asleep in bed and Helena has gone back to
her hotel room. Snookums and I can be alone for one of our
final nights together before he leaves. No sex, though.
I'm still bleeding and neither of us gets into that.

For the most part, today was a really good day. Snookums
dropped Annie off at school this morning and I kept Kiki
home with me, since I didn't know what time Helena would
be coming over. Kiki and I went and got fresh flowers for
my bedroom and the living room while we waited (I still
had the long since dead roses Snookums bought me after the
miscarriage on my nightstand and although it is Halloween,
it was just a little too morbid and I had to get rid of
them). I got some red, yellow, orange and dark maroon
flowers and some orange tulips to brighten up the place,
but still bring a little fall color into our bedroom and
the living room.

Once Helena did unearth herself from her hotel room, we
went out to lunch at Red Robin and just caught up. Kiki
entertained herself by eating an entire cup of bleu cheese
salad dressing (which she turned out to be allergic to-a
rash ensued). She and Dan are on really amicable terms,
which is strange considering they're supposed to be
separated and going through a divorce. They still go on
dates (dinner, movies, trips). It's the stranges
separation I've ever heard of. They spend the weekend
together (no sex, though) and just hang out like old
friend. I guess that's a really great thing, but it's
unlike any divorcing couple I've ever heard of.

After lunch, we went for a stroll around the mall. Helena
christened a new credit card with purchases for Jason and
I at Macy's. I got a new work outfit. Black slacks with a
fine silver pinstripe and a gathered top with a silver
ornament on it and a silver and black under layer that
peeks out the top. You'd have to see it to understand, but
it's very expensive looking. More expensive than I'd pay
for one outfit, that's for sure. Snookums got a new
Rocawear outfit, which made him very happy because our
Macy's had stopped carrying Rocawear for awhile and he was
having to go to Tacoma to get it. Helena coerced me into
buying her stuff at Victoria's Secret, which I wasn't
entirely comfortable doing, because it slightly violates
the employee discount policy, but I'm sure no one noticed.
The money could have been a gift. I paid in cash. At least
I hope no one noticed...

Kiki got to play for a good long time at Periscope Place
(the play area in the mall). She had such a wonderful
time. She was laughing and squealing with delight the
entire time. I need to take her there more often. Annie
practically lived there as a toddler. She did that for
about an hour, then we picked Annie up from school. We did
dinner out at Puerta Vallarta and then came home to get
ready for the trick-or-treating. We went about 3 blocks
and then called it quits. Not as many houses participated
this year and it was VERY cold. Annie still got a good
amount of candy, so it was okay. Did I mention I'm glad
it's over?

Now it's mommy-daddy time. We'll probably just watch a
little tv then fall asleep. Ciao.
