The Car Accident That Made My Day

*****

"Great vigilance must be maintained at all times when
dealing in areas about which we do not have great
understanding. This, of course, is where science can help.
We consider things to be mysterious only when we do not
understand them.

I realize that results of inquiries are dependent on the
experiments employed to achieve them. However, not finding
something does not mean that it does not exist. It only
proves that the experiment was incapable of finding it. It
is also important to keep in mind the limitations imposed
by nature itself."

I don't have a ton of time to write. Snookums is picking
up Chinese take-out from down the hill (so convienient
having a great little place practically across the street)
and I'm starving. I have been hungry a lot lately, maybe
it's lingering PMS, I don't know, but this entry will be
kind of quick!

Yes, my title is correct. I had an accident first thing
this morning, pulling out of my carport. I'm so stupid
sometimes. I was leaving for work at 8:45am, LATE of
course (which is why I was rushing). I threw the car into
reverse, backed out and knicked the bumper of another one
of my neighbors also going to work. I got out and
apologized profusely and promised to fix it, but he didn't
even seem to care. He told me not to worry about it and to
have a good day at work. Of all the neighbors I could have
hit, I'm glad it was him. He made my day just by being so
nice! That feeling really stuck with me all day, too.

Work was great. I hadn't done an opening shift before, so
it was a little different from the mid-shift I'm
accustomed to. I had to do some of the nitty-gritty stuff
I don't normally experience. I helped take out cardboard
and garbage, make a deposit drop and restock. None of it
was particularly nitty or gritty, it's just not what I
normally do. I still managed to get 4 cards, even though
1/4 of my shift was before the store opened, no one came
in the first hour we were open and then it got crazy-busy
and I was being pulled in 4 directions for the remaining
two hours. Overall, I can't complain. It was a good work-
day.

I stopped by Phil's (my collision repair guy, I know, it's
sad that I've got my own collision guy, but it's good
having connections). He took one look at my back bumper,
went into his shop, came out with a little bucket of
something and a scrubby and in about 1 minute, the damage
was GONE. He didn't charge me anything and he said to send
they guy I hit over and he'd fix his too, for free. I
couldn't have asked for a nicer collision guy! I'll leave
a note on his door letting him know where to take his car.

My horoscope was kind of eerie this morning. I don't
usually put much stock into horoscopes, but last week I
sent my mom a photo album of the girls I made for her and
a lovely Hallmark card (written my Maya Angelou). I've
been thinking about her a lot and today my horoscope said
that a relationship I though was over would be rekindled.
She (and it did specifically say "she") just needs time
alone to sort out some major issues in her life, but would
seek out my loving arms soon. I would like to see how
she's doing, but mostly I want to rub her nose in my
success and happiness. I know that may sound horrible, but
she expected nothing but failure out of me. I'd just like
the opportunity to show her I'm not a waste.

Snookums is home and the smell of Chinese is killing me! I
need food! Ciao.
