The Saving Grace

****

"Negative actions have the potential to increase, whereas
positive actions can be destroyed by many adverse
circumstances."

Today started out being one of those days where I just
wanted to crawl back into bed and pull the covers over my
head. I woke up very late (due to problems falling asleep-
again). A truck threw a rock into my windshield and
chipped it. A woman pulling out of a parking lot (without
looking)and came within inches of hitting me (it was a
close call) and as if to add insult to injury, the gym's
washer and dryer broke down, so I had to dry off after my
shower with a WASHCLOTH! Okay, it wasn't my worst day
ever, but it was really starting to look crappy there for
a minute.

The saving grace of my day was work. It was a slow Monday
for the most part, but I still managed to get 4 credit
cards (I was the only one to get any all day, unless
someone got some after I left). My manager actually
thanked me and told me I "carried the day" as far as
conversions (the number of people who buy something and
don't just come in to look. For example if 40 people come
in, at least 9 have to buy something so our conversion
rate stays at 22%. There's a laser at the door that counts
how many people come in and out. It's all very high tech)
and credit went. That made me happy. I actually made an
impression. I was even given a new associate to train,
which was really wierd because the "new" associate was in
the group interview I was in, but was hired a week after
me. I'm really proud of myself for doing such a good job
with this. I genuinely like working at Victoria's Secret
and I'm good at it, too! So, that turned my crappy morning
around and salvaged the rest of my day.

Tonight is my last night sleeping alone! At least until
November 2, when Snookums leaves again. I can't believe
he's leaving again so soon. Only two weeks home, then he's
gone again. I hate the Navy. Here I go again, planning for
him to leave before he even gets home! I need to stop
doing that.

Okay. I need to get the house straightened up and get
myself in bed. Tomorrow is going to be an easy day for the
most part. I think I'll come home after the gym and get
myself gussied up at home. It's easier than doing it at
the gym. Actually. I think I'll just go straight to bed.
I'll have plenty of time tomorrow morning/afternoon to get
the house perfect, get myself perfect, then head back into
Silverdale to hit Castles (Snookums wants me to get him a
movie that I'll be willing to watch with him) and still be
on base in time to meet him. His ship isn't pulling in
until nearly 5pm. Tomorrow is planned. Now I'm going to
bed. Ciao!
