Kiki's Cognitive Ability

*****

"There is no way to escape death, it is just like trying
to escape when you are surrounded by four great mountains
touching the sky. There is no escape from these four
mountains of birth, old age, sickness, and death. Aging
destroys youth, sickness destroys health, degeneration of
life destroys all excellent qualities, and death destroys
life.

Even if you are a great runner, you cannot run away from
death. You cannot stop death with your wealth, through
your magic performances or recitation of mantras, or even
your medicines. Therefore, it is wise to prepare for your
death."

I have absolutely nothing to write about. I spent the
entire day on the couch, with my girls around me. We
watched a million hours of cartoons (something I never let
them do) and they tore the house apart. Which now I have
to clean or I won't be able to sleep.

Kiki actually showed signs of intelligence today! She
dumped over the garbage can next to the computer, where I
throw away all of my junk mail. After shredding everything
into little pieces, she decided it was time to clean up
after herself and put every single piece of it back in the
can, one at a time. Every time she put another piece in,
I'd praise her with "Yea, Kiki!" and she liked that very
much, so she kept cleaning. It was lovely seeing her do
something that required some cognitive ability! I was
starting to wonder if she'd ever start showing mental
growth. I don't mean to sound hard on her, but she's
several steps behind the other children in her age group.
Annie was so advanced, and as much as I try not to compare
them, because they are so different, Annie is the only
example I have to go by, though. So, it's hard. I just
wanted to share Kiki's triumph somewhere.

I'd better get cleaning. The house won't tidy up itself!
Ciao and goodnight.
