My Life Thus Far

"Western brains work, they work a great deal, but always
in the direction of efficiency. In that way the mind puts
itself at the service of the result. Like all servants, it
renounces its independence. I am talking about another
form of spiritual life, more detached and deeper, free
from the obsession of a goal to be reached. In a way, the
universal invasion of technology, everywhere it goes,
lessens the life of the mind."
Hmmm. Technology lessens the life of the mind. Who would
have guessed? I'm not a terribly technological person. I
own a cellphone and I use the computer and television.
Anything beyond that I either don't consider to be
technology or I have little use for it. So the life of my
mind is secure. But, I'm sure in an effort to make our
lives less stressful, technology has only added to our
problems. I'd love to go back to the good old days when
all you had was regular mail and home phones. Yes, I'm old
enough to remember those days.
A friend of mine pointed out why I haven't been getting
any feedback lately. Somethings wrong with the feedback
button! So if anyone out there in cyberspace feels the
need to give me feedback, you're welcome to e-mail me.
Yes, I'm that desperate. Other than Gen and my children, I
get very little human contact and hearing from people
outside the nucleus of my universe helps me grow as a
person. So, bring it on! I miss everybody! But, don't
abuse the privilage of having my e-mail address! I'll just
send your crap to the junk mail file and block you from
sending me mail all together. Norton will protect me! I'm
not playing, either!
Gen and I did our usual thing today. We worked out,
chatted at Starbucks (I think I'm developing a caffeine
addiction!) and did a little shopping at Ross. I ended up
buying a pair of pink OshKosh work boots for Kiki. Gen and
I bought matching purple SIMPLE clodhoppers that are
actually really comfortable! I was waffling when it came
to buying them, but once I got home and walked around in
them a bit, I'm really falling in love with the clunky
things! They'll be my comfy Fall/Winter shoes, since they
are perfectly suited for the nasty cold, wet season.
I finally did the Victoria Secret phone test thing. Most
of the Yes-No questions were mind-numbingly simple (if you
found $100 in a store, what would you do with it? Duh),
but a few of the questions seemed like trick questions
because either answer could apply. It left a little room
for interpretation and you couldn't figure out what they
really wanted. So, I did the best I could. Hopefully I
passed! If I do, then the third and final step will be the
working interview. Damn. Who would have though it'd be so
hard getting a job in a lingerie store?
The season premiere of Grey's Anatomy starts in less than
25 minutes and I'm starving, so I'm going to eat dinner
and then curl up in bed to watch my favorite show! Ciao.
