The Greatest Degree Of Happiness

*****

"One great question underlies our experience, whether we
think about it consciously or not: what is the purpose of
life? From the moment of birth, every human being wants
happiness and does not want suffering. Neither social
conditioning nor education nor ideology affects this. From
the very core of our being, we simply desire contentment.
Therefore, it is important to discover what will bring
about the greatest degree of happiness."

This is so true. Every culture, class and walk of life is
searching for happiness. Once I figured this out, I
instantly didn't feel so alone or abandoned in the world.
I'm not the only lost human looking for that illusive
thing called happiness. And once I figured that out,
happiness didn't seem so illusive...

I had a really delightful day. It wasn't very much
different from any other Saturday, by any means. I slept
in late, stayed in my pajamas, lounged on the couch, took
a 3 1/2 hour nap, spent time with the girls and now I'm
doing my usual evening activities. Updating my diary and
responding to e-mails.

What made today so much different from most other
Saturdays, is that it wasn't a PITY-PARTY! I was just
relaxing and enjoying my day off. I worked hard at the gym
this week and my body deserves to be stationary for at
least one day a week. I wasn't depressed or sad, I wasn't
hiding out in my room all day and I didn't shoo my
children away, because I was too down to enjoy their
youthful exhuburance. I didn't feel ill or bloated or
pained in any way. I just was in a really happy mood.
Which is a change for me, but lately I've been feeling
better and better. I think it might have a lot to do with
my newfound (or regained, I should say) control. Control
makes me happy, no matter how warped that may sound.

I've made my choice about what gym I'll become a member
of. I had three choices. Gateway Fitness, Olympic Fitness
and Westcoast Fitness. All three are within 5 miles of
home (they're actually in Port Orchard), all have
childcare facilities. I've been in the first two, so I
know what they look like and the third option is
relatively new, but has a website with detailed pictures
and info. So, I checked that out. My decision was
clear...Westcoast Fitness. They have all the equipment I
want, all the services I need and the price is right. One
time joining fees are $80 (I got a $25 off coupon online),
monthly dues are $20, and UNLIMITED childcare is, get
this...$30 a month! I pay $76 a week just to have Kiki at
the military daycare! So, for $50 a month, I won't be
losing anything, but saving a ton of money (and they have
video daycare, so I can watch Kiki on the tv screen on my
treadmill, while she's in the childcare room). I still
have
to leave the gym I'm comfortable with, but I'll adjust,
eventually.

That's about all for now. Nothing too juicy to write
about, so I'll be going now. I'm making Snookie and I
dessert. Baked Apples. I'm getting back into cooking now
that I've got all these cool vegan recipes to try! Ciao.
