Damn Cheese Danish!

****

"Overall I have found much that is impressive about
Western society. In particular, I admire its energy and
creativity and hunger for knowledge.

On the other hand, a number of things about the Western
way of life cause me concern. People there have an
inclination to think in terms of "black and white,"
and "either, or," which ignores the facts of
interdependence and relativity.

Between two points of view they tend to lose sight of the
gray areas. Also, with thousands of brothers and sisters
for neighbors, so many people appear to be able to show
their true feelings only to their cats and dogs."

I'm glad to have things back to normal, me being a
creature of habit, and all...

For the most part, I can't complain about my day. It was
very predictable, comfortable and within my relm
of "normal". Nothing jumped out and threatened my comfort
zone or challenged me in any way to come out of my
drug/exercise/complacency-induced stupor. E Pluribus Unum.
Just one out of many, that was my day.

This morning, I woke up late and didn't have time to eat
my usual breakfast (shredded wheat with Lite Silk and a
banana), so I stopped in the mini-mart and got a cheese
danish. STUPID idea! I ate the damn thing and then looked
at the nutrition facts. It was 510 calories per serving
and the whole danish was two servings, so my breakfast was
1,020 calories! I nearly had a coronary. Damn cheese
danish! So, I spent an extra half hour on cardio and
burned 1500 instead of 1000 and then did double strength
training (another 200 calories). That brought be back to
roughly the same calorie deficit I'd normally have after
eating my usual breakfast. So, I felt better.

Snookums and I went to Target to do Annie's back-to-school
shopping. This year's theme was SpongeBob Squarepants.
Last year she wanted everything (backpack, lunch box,
folders, pencils, erasers, you name it) Barbie. This year
she's taken a step away from the girly-girl and asked for
SpongeBob. So, now she's got a hideous bright yellow
backpack that is the exact likeness of the annoying
kitchen sponge. Whatever makes her happy.

I don't have much else to write about. So, I'll be going.
Snookums has to get up early in the morning tomorrow. The
USS Abraham Lincoln is down from Everett to go into dry
dock, so parking is going to be a nightmare on base in the
morning with 2,500 MORE sailors (on top of the 2,600
Stennis sailors) vying for a spot. I'm going to try to
convince him to let me drive him so he doesn't have to get
up at 3:30am. He probably won't go for it. He hates to be
without transportation. Okay, I'm really going now. Ciao!
