Hungover With Exhaustion

My Dad has given me free reign of his computer, so it
looks like I'll be able to update after all. Yeah! I wrote
an entry this morning, so I'll copy that one down, then
I'll fill you in on the rest of my day:

There was no way on Earth I was writing last night.
Between lack of sleep, adrenaline and missing my 9am
appointment with my meds. I was a mess. That's putting it
mildly.

The drive wasn't bad at all. Nothing like what everyone
made it out to be. Or maybe I'm stronger than people give
me credit for. i set and met the goal of getting up and
going by 6am. After running a few errands (mailing a few
bills, hitting Starbucks for a venti latte-nonfat sugar
free of course-and then a stop at the ATM for gas money).
I was on the highway by 6:30am. I missed morning traffic,
so it was smooth sailing all the way, until I got within
50 miles of LA.

I think I-5 through southern Oregon/northern California is
as close as I'm ever going to get to driving a stock car.
I was able to drive 1200 miles in under 16 hours. You do
the math. I averaged 80mph, but got as hight as 95mph. A
semi-suicidal, ineffectively medicated, bipolar alone in a
car with two small children shouldn't be able to drive
that fast. By the time I reached LA I felt like I'd just
won the Indy 500.

The elation of success was quickly quelled by the
realization that I couldn't find a single hotel within the
LA city limits. I'd passed hundreds on the outskirts. So,
I called my friend and she found a Best Western in Beverly
Hills. Don't be fooled, it isn't as posh as you'd expect.
Yes, it's two blocks from Rodeo Dr., situated atop the
Ferrari dealership and they valet parked the Impala, but
it's just a Best Western all the same. At midnight, after
a marathon road trip, you tend to not care.

The girls handled the drive amazingly well. No meltdowns,
tantrums or emergencies. I'm so proud of them. Even at
midnight driving through the streets of LA, they didn't
put up much of a fuss. It took me almost two hours to
figure out where the hell I was going (with in the cities
within the city), but I DID IT! So, there ney-sayers!

Right now I'm feeling hungover with exhaustion. Even after
all that excitement and staying up late the girls still
got up at 7am and I didn't fall asleep until 2am, so yet
another day of running on little sleep is ahead of me. I
need coffee. My friend and I are meeting at noon (check
out time) to have lunch, then I'll finish the 90 minute
drive to San Diego. I'll be getting there long before my
Dad gets off from work, but my brother will be there (he's
12). Maybe he'll watch the girls so I can take a nap! A
girl can dream, can't she?

It was absolutely GREAT seeing my friend (whom I've spoken
to online, but never met in person) other than lunch at
the California Pizza Kitchen and taking a long walk on
Rodeo drive (and buying a $300 purse from the Coach
boutique), there isn't anything much more to add to my
day. I'm anxious to spend time with my Dad and get to know
him better, seeing as how it's been quite a few years, to
say the least. Ciao.
