8 Beans Per Cupcake

I've got a headache. Tylenol doesn't work for me and it
isn't serious enough for Vicodin, so I guess I'll deal.
But, damn I hate headaches. I can't possibly be tired. I
took two naps today. Maybe it's PMS related, because the
rest of my body is suffering from one symptom or another.

Annie had a great day today. Which, even though we didn't
throw the huge dog-and-pony birthday party that a lot of
children demand, is all that really matters. Annie isn't a
demanding child at all, which I contribute to her stellar
personality more than my parenting techniques (we're kind
of growing up together, since we're only 16 years apart).
She got up this morning (early, as usual) and we opened
presents on Mommy and Daddy's bed (a location that is
hallowed ground for the children. We need someplace just
to ourselves). Annie couldn't get clothes on fast enough
once she opened that scooter. So, she spent the morning
riding up and down the sidewalk right out front. It was
lovely seeing her so enamored with a gift that didn't cost
a car or rent payment. The rest of her gifts were thrown
to the curb, pretty much. She didn't even care about the
Barbie cake I spent an hour decorating at 10pm at night.

For dinner, we went to Puerto Vallarta (Annie loves
Mexican food) and when we got home, we baked 24 cupcakes
for her class (tomorrow is really her birthday). Which is
something special we've done every year since she started
pre-school at 3 years old. I thought we'd keep 'em clean.
White cake with vanilla frosting, decorated with mini
jelly beans. They're cute! We even threw in a little math.
I had her count all the jelly beans in the container, then
divide that number by 24 so we'd know how many jelly beans
each cupcake needed. After much deliberation, we came up
with 8 beans per cupcake. It was fun :)

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. I've got to call in
sick, because I was too chicken to ask for the day off. I
feel like I haven't been there long enough to ask for
certain days off. So, I'll just leave a message with the
answering service. I won't be required to speak with
anyone who might demand I come in, not that anyone would.
I'm just a chicken. What can I say? At 8:30am, I meet with
the claims adjuster to start the process of getting the
car fixed. I don't know how long that'll take. Then I drop
the cupcakes off at Annie's school. After, that I'm going
to the gym to relieve some stress and to get myself back
on track. MY MOTHER-IN-LAW IS COMING NEXT WEEKEND! I have
to feel good about myself. Sue isn't a bad woman, but she
can rub me the wrong way at times. It's best that I be at
my most confident and level-minded.

So, that's what's on the agenda for tomorrow. I'll let you
know how everything goes. Ciao!
