My Life Thus Far

I'm Still Standing

Despite getting out of bed to a day that I thought would
most certainly turn out to be shit on a stick, I actually
didn't have such a bad day after all. I'm still standing
and I'm not doing too badly (mentally and emotionally) if
I do say so myself.

Even after taking another Vicodin last night, I still
didn't fall asleep until almost 4am and was promptly
awakened by the alarm clock at 5am. I tried resting for
another hour, but all I could think about was what I
needed to get done today (the estimate from Phil, go see
the inconsiderate manager at Bremerton Lanes, own up to
the fact that when bad things happen, they're REALLY BAD).
When I got up to get ready, I checked on the girls and
discovered that Kiki was covered from head to toe in a
bright red rash. She didn't seem to care much, in fact she
was more chipper than she's been in days. Instead of
panicing, I reminded myself that I was told this could
happen. She's developed an allergic reaction to her
immunizations. She's not in any discomfort and she isn't
contagious, she's just unsightly. Poor baby. I was still
able to take her to daycare, thank God, because I
seriously needed some gym time.

So, I dropped off the girls as usual and headed to the
gym. I was thinking about what I was going to say to
the "the manager" as I was walking through the doors of
the gym, when my cellphone rang. It wasn't a number I
recognized, but I answered anyway out of curiousity. It
ended up being an FBI investigator. He was trying to reach
Snookums. Don't jump to conclusions, now. Snookie is being
investigated (well, we all are, really) because he's
getting a top secret security clearance for work. He's
trying to get into cryptology (cracking codes) should
I even be mentioning this here? I don't know. But, the
realization that pretty much everything I do is under a
microscope right now pursuaded me to not pursue my
vendetta against "the manager". This lifted a huge weight
off my shoulders. As soon as I accepted that I wasn't
going to poison my spirit with anymore negativity, I
instantly felt better.

My workout was great. I felt much better afterwards.
Snookums met me at the gym and then we headed home to
shower and change. We made love very gently (which made me
feel better, too) showered and dressed and stopped at the
Pancake house for some comfort food. I had pancakes, of
course. After breakfast, we headed over to Phil's and
showed him the damage. He was actually able to make me
laugh about the whole situation and helped us figure out
how to go about fixing it. I've already filed a claim with
Geico. I see the claims adjuster on the 22nd (Annie's
birthday, but I gotta do what I gotta do). They'll pay for
my rental car and the repairs beyond my deductable. $500
is much nicer than $2000 (the rough estimate Phil gave
us). So, I'm not complaining. I feel much better now. Even
if I do have to drive around with a caved in door for the
next two weeks. Oh, well.

I also got my nails done today. It was a gift from
Snookums, since I've been putting it off after the bad
experience I had last time. He took me to a different
salon. One that specializes in no drill nails. They don't
use the power tools, harsh chemicals or the nail abusing
practices that most places use. It took longer and was
more expensive, but my nails have never looked this good!
I'm really pleased with the results. After that
inexperienced woman nearly ripped my nail off, I knew I
wasn't going back. I'll just pay a little extra and get
them done more lovingly.

Well, that's about all. I'm getting sleepy, especially
since I'm running on about 2 hours of sleep. Ciao for now.
Tonight should be a better night.
