My Life Thus Far

A Day Of Refocusing

My day was very much a day of refocusing. Of getting back
on track and remembering my motivation. I need to forget
this crap about falling off the wagon when Snookums comes
home. I lost the majority of the weight while he was home,
eating the usual crap he eats, with the good smells and
perpetual availability constantly assaulting my
determination. But, I withstood all the temptation.
There's absolutely no valid reason to use him as an excuse
now, so I'm owning up to my weakness and doing something
about it. After all, my motto is TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE.

Snookums and I devoted our day to getting back into our
healthier lifestyle. We went to the gym this morning and
did a full workout. I wasn't terribly motivated, at first.
All I wanted to do was quit and go have pancakes at the
Pancake House, but I stuck with it and about 15 minutes
in, I started feeling pretty good and warmed up. So, the
rest of my workout was a breeze.

We came home and had breakfast. I had some of that new
high fiber yogurt with sliced strawberries on top (a mere
90 calories). Snookums had a South Beach breakfast wrap,
which are pretty good, but I had one yesterday, so I
didn't feel like one today.

We went for a nice, long walk after breakfast. 4 miles
total. Which is nothing special for me, considering I use
to do 8 a day, but for Snookums it was a huge step in the
right direction. Another 326 calories burned for me (my
pedometer said so) to add to the 500 I know I burned on
the cardio machines at the gym. So, I burned off more
calories in exercise than I've eaten today (I've only had
640 so far, but I'll be having some organic watermelon for
dessert, so I'll come in at a little over 700).

After our walk, we went to Subway for lunch (I just had a
club salad, no dressing. 160 calories, yeah me!) then we
came home and took a nap! I know, a nap! A 2 hour one.
That isn't something I'm accustomed to AT ALL during the
week and rarely on the weekend, so it was even more
wonderful than the Cold Stone ice cream I had yesterday.

For dinner, it was pretty much a fend-for-yourself night.
We all ate something different. I had a South Beach
grilled chicken pizza and a little salad with 3 kinds of
lettuce, radishes, carrots and red cabbage. Just the
bagged stuff, but it was filling for a mere 20 calories.
The pizza was 330, but since it was a whole wheat South
Beach pizza, it's okay.

Well, that's enough about my "diet" day. I'm just so
pleased with myself for having such a strong willpower
day! I had to stop the destructive eating or I was at risk
of gaining back a pound or two of the unwanted fat I've
worked so hard to lose. I could easily have not eaten at
all today, but Snookums doesn't like that, so I'll save
the fasting and slim-fast-only days for when he's out to
sea. Ciao, until I write again.
