My Life Thus Far
Pike Place Market
What a great day, today was! Snookums and I are trying to
take advantage of the limited amount of time we have
together, so we've been trying to pack a lot into a little
time. Today was no exception, but it was SO MUCH FUN!
After we dropped the girls off, we went to the gym for
about an hour. I only did about 3/4 the workout I usually
do, because I generally do an hour and a half at the gym,
but I still feel like it was worth it.
We finished our workout and were showered and dressed by
10am. We left the car in the Bremerton Harborside parking
garage and took the ferry over to Seattle on foot. There's
really no need for the car in downtown Seattle, if you're
only going to Pike Place. We spent a good portion of the
hour long ferry ride talking about our life together. Our
children. What we want our lives to be like in the future.
It was good one-on-one time for us. Which, with two
children we don't get a whole lot of.
For lunch, we went to Cutter's Bayhouse on the waterfront.
It's a bit of a pricy place, but since we don't come to
Seattle often, we figured it was worth it. Everyone needs
an $80 lunch once in awhile. For the appetizer we had
smoked salmon chowder with rosemary foccacia bread. I had
the Parmesan and Asiago crusted Alaskan halibut cheeks
with garlic mashed potatoes covered in a rich beshamel
sauce and steamed asparagus. It was insanely good.
Snookums had the mixed seafood grill (which looked good,
but I don't like slimy sea creatures. All of my meat MUST
have a face). For dessert I had creme brulee and snookums
had strawberry rhubarb cobbler. It was the most amazing
meal I've had in a long time. I almost forgot how much I
hate food, it was so good. Our waiter was the nicest gay
guy. I love gay men. He was so cultured, well groomed,
knew what he was talking about as far as the menu went and
gave us the most prompt and courteous service. It was
great.
After lunch we strolled the Market for awhile. Snookums
bought me a big cinnamon twist from the Pike Place bakery
(which was heavenly). He also bought me plums and a
watermelon from the organic produce stand. I got a really
cute burlap tote and from now on, Snookums says I can take
the ferry to Seattle every week to get fresh produce,
since it's next to impossible to get good, fresh, organic
produce at the commissary or anywhere else around here.
I'm so excited!! Taking a trip all the way to Seattle for
fruits and vegetables (and seafood, too!) may sound a
little over the top, but trust me. There is nowhere else
to get the best other than Pike Place Market. Snookie also
got me a bunch of roses and tulips, too. I got BLUE,
ORANGE, GREEN and PINK roses. All of them the most vibrant
and unusual shades for roses and pretty pink tulips. I had
such a fun time.
On the return trip home, we stopped in Cold Stone and had
ice cream, which after the indulgent day we'd already had,
it wasn't much needed and I only ate a tiny bit of it, but
it was still fun.
When we got home with the girls, everyone was so relaxed
and laid back. Annie was laughing, Kiki was giggling, we
were joking around and getting into being with the babies
and everything was so wonderfully happy. I remember when
life was so dark and dreary for me. When I couldn't leave
my bedroom, let alone the house, city, or county. I'm not
completely out of the woods, yet, but I'm feeling so much
better. I'm exhausted after my "date" with Snookums, but
it was so worth it. Ciao...
