My Life Thus Far

Organic Milk and Coffee

I had yet another great workout today! Snookie came with
me, again (he's had stand down the last couple of days,
I'm not sure why, but I'm glad he got a little time at
home) and this time he was tres motivated! He worked out
really hard today, and I'm so proud of him, because for
awhile there it seemed like I was the only thing standing
between him and the "fat boy" program (the Navy's answer
to overweight sailors, a mandatory work-out program that
helps them lose the weight, but doesn't help them keep it
off. He's done it before). I burned 1,000 calories and he
burned 1,350. I've started a little race with myself. To
burn more calories than I did the day before. At some
point I may not, but it's good motivation trying.

I started out not-so-motivated this morning. My period is
on, I'm feeling a little weak and sluggish, my muscles are
sore and on top of that I'm coming down with a cold for
the first time in almost 2 years. I guess I'm long
overdue, but I'd rather not be sick at all, ever. I took
an 800mg Motrin (the ones they gave me after Kiki was
born) before we left for the gym and it helped with the
muscle pain. I plugged away on the treadmill at 3.5 mph
until my muscles loosened up, then it was all gravy from
there on out. I LOVE the gym!

I talked to the lady that interviewed me on Monday, I got
the spot. She and the extern coordinator have some things
to iron out as far as scheduling goes, but everything is
working out well. I got a spot on my first try! Maybe I'm
not as much of a loser as I always make myself out to be.
Maybe I am poised, mature and sophisticated like I'm
always being told. Yeah, right. Whatever.

After our workout, Snookie and I went to Central Market
for lunch and to buy some new dishes. We did really well
watching our intake. We had salad, a little bowl of chili
and we split a 9-grain roll and a small plate of sushi. We
also had coffee, but I had my usual non-fat, sugar-free
hazelnut latte. Central Market's cafe uses only organic
milk and coffee and I swear my latte tasted better there
than it does at Starbucks. Maybe that's just my
imagination.

After lunch, we set about doing what the trip to Central
Market was really all about. Right smack-dab in the middle
of the store is a little Asian center. Where they make the
sushi and sell a small selection of Japanese dishes. I got
this brilliant idea from somewhere that I wanted to start
using Japanese dishes and chopsticks to eat, with the idea
that the smaller plate and the less efficient (for me, at
least) utensil would slow and cut down on my eating.
Snookie though it was a good idea and agreed to try it,
too, so we bought really pretty sushi plates and
chopsticks and we had dinner on them tonight. Both he and
I can tell a difference already. We ate half the amount we
usually do, yet no hunger pangs 3 hours later. Not to
mention the whole meal looked more appealing on the pretty
plates. Pork roast never looked so good...

Well, I'm going to bed now. I'm still feeling a little
ichy and I want to get some good sleep so I'll be ready
for my workout tomorrow. Ciao.
