My Life Thus Far

A Molasses-Slow Day

Today was a molasses-slow day compared to last week. I
forgot how nice it is to stay home and do nothing. Why is
it that only a matter of days ago I was chomping at the
bit, looking for something to do and now I'm infinitely
grateful for this weekend? I guess some people are never
happy with what they've got. Me being the leader of the
never-happy people.

Even though I could have slept in this morning, I didn't.
Kiki woke up at 6am, because that's when we've been
getting up during the week. But I gave her a bottle and
she fell asleep in her play yard. I cuddled up on the
couch with my polka dotted Old Navy fleece blanket and
watched the news. Before long Zeus came out and layed on
me, then Annie woke up, then Snookie and before I knew it
I was the Allen family short order cook, making everything
from cracked wheat toast with sweet cream butter and honey
(for Annie), a crab and mexican four-cheese omelet (for
Snookie) and a spinich, mozzarella and salmon omelet (for
me). It was nice having a hardy, wholesome breakfast
(still coming in at only 220 calories), instead of
grabbing a Pria bar (110 calories) or a Slim-fast shake
(180 calories) on my way out the door. But I'd better get
use to it, I guess.

I took my first hot shower of the week today! Let me
explain: I've been showering at the gym, because I can't
stand driving home sweaty and smelly. The gym has lukewarm
water at best, so today I took a truly hot shower for the
first time this week. Snookie bought me some new Bath and
Body Works goodies a few days ago (when I went to
Victoria's Secret). It's the Tutti Dolci line imported
from Italy and they are FABULOUS! I got the Cinnamon
Frosting scented moisturizing souffle and the Apple Torte
eu de parfum. Together, the smell is something like the
most fabulous apple crumb cake or other similarly fabulous
dessert I try my best to stay away from. Smelling so
delicious almost makes up for not allowing myself to
indulge in such debaucherous acts (eating cake).

I'm still brainstorming what I'm going to make for dinner.
Last week I made these amazing pork chops in the crock pot
(my new method of making gourmet meals without actually
being home to make them). They slow cooked for 6 hours in
whole garlic cloves, whole stems of basil and marjoram,
portabello mushroom, onion and white wine. The mingling of
flavors was amazing. I don't think I'll be able to top
that for awhile. Tonight it'll be something with fresh
chicken breasts. I decided I like the fresh ones better
than the ones I use to get in the bag, frozen. They just
have more flavor and are more juicy. What's a few dollars
extra in the long run? I've already got my garlic and herb
brown rice cooking and it's starting to smell heavenly, so
I'd better go start the rest of my meal. Ciao.

P.S. Did I mention that I'm 168 pounds now? Even with my
hormonally confused body and bloated tummy. Imagine what I
could be when this bloating goes away! :)
