My Life Thus Far

Contemplations On 2005

Even though the first day of this new year very much
resembled those last fleeting days of last year, I can't
help but miss '05. 2005 was a great year for me (for the
most part). I finished school (something that I'd been
working on for 5 years), I had a beautiful baby, I lost 50
pounds, my husband turned his career around. Life is good!
There were a few rough spots, but for the most part, it
was a good year. Better than many years before.

I'm a huge hater of change. I don't like the very though
of change. I don't like my comfort zone to be challenged
and that's exactly what imposed change is. Challenging my
comfort. I know I wanted to get out into the world again.
I know I wanted more freedom. I wanted to go to the gym. I
wanted to get back into the working world. But, now that
it's all becoming a reality, I REALLY want to back out and
just enjoy waking up to my baby every morning. Where the
biggest challenge I face is picking out Annie's school
clothes or deciding what's for dinner. The mundane
comforts of 2005 :|

Once I get use to the idea of this new frontier (and stop
viewing it as imposed change) I know my life will be so
fulfilling. I'll have the loving marriage, the happy
family and the rewarding career. The total package.

I'm really looking forward to Snookums getting home :) He
left on a fast-food run about 20 minutes ago. At first I
was feeling a little guilty about indulging in fast food
when only the day before yesterday I had a "free day".
But, when I double-clicked on internet explorer to update
you, the news story on the front page of Netscape
was "Diet Cheaters Win". I had to check that out.
Apparently, scientist have found that people who indulge
their food desires 2 days out of the week and follow a
reduced-calorie diet and exercise plan the other 5 days,
experience more sustained weight loss over time and keep
more weight off. This was good to hear, because it's
EXACTLY the strategy I'm following. Well, Snookie is home
now...Ciao!
