My Life Thus Far
Maija's Birthday
Maija's birthday party wasn't the best function I've ever
been to, but it wasn't the worst either. I swear, there
had to be at least 5 babies under a year old there. All of
them crawling/walking/cruising around the living room
getting into things and putting shit in their mouths. As
soon as we got home, Kiki got a bath and a good slathering
of sanitizer all of her hands, her binky and all of her
clothing (including her jacket) were directly thrown into
the laundry bin. I can't believe how some people can let
their children go around looking all sticky and unkept. I
realize babies get dirty, but filthy is a whole nother
story.
It was nice getting back in touch with Beverly. We kind of
have a history together, considering our daughter's were
best friends as toddlers and were each other's first
friend. They fell back into their old habits within
minutes of seeing each other and it was like 3 years had
never gone by. I'll make my best attempt at keeping up
contact, although I haven't been know for keeping up
friendships like I should.
Some of Beverly's extended family are real characters and
not in the good way, either. Her husband's family consists
of mightier-than-thou, bible thumping, home schooling, my-
children-are-better-than-your-children lunatics. They
spent most of the day ranting about how advanced their
babies are compared to so and so's and what kind of
organic goat's milk and soy cheese they feed them. I'm
proud of my baby, too, but I don't go around monopolizing
other people's occasions with discussions on my child's
bowel movements. This was the only bad part of the day
(that and I ate my entire day's worth of calories at one
meal. I didn't have breakfast and I ate so much for lunch
I didn't have any calories left for dinner).
Well, I'm going to go for now. Snookums and I are going to
take a bath together (something we haven't done in
awhile). He's even offered to wash my hair :) Ciao.
