A Girl Can Dream

I'm tired. I slept okay last night. Not perfectly, but
okay. These new linens are going to take some getting use
to. They aren't the best quality and they are stiff from
being new. It's going to take months of washes to get them
to the same buttery softness my Wamsutta 400 thread count
sheets had coming out of the package. Oh well. I've only
got to deal with them for a few months. Then maybe
Snookums will see things my way and I'll get my lavender
and jade utopia. A girl can dream.

Today was devoted to Snookums. Since he's leaving for real
on Monday (no quickies or stolen meetings, he's gone for
real), he needed to get a few necessities and some
comforts. We went to Wal-mart and got him new t-shirts,
boot laces, air fresheners (close quarters makes for
undesireable odors, I guess) and his usual toiletries in
miniature. We had lunch at his favorite place (Kings Wok
Buffet) and then went to Ross to get him bedding for his
rack (his bed on the ship). IZOD flannel sheets (in bright
orange, yuck), an oversized pillow and a micro fleece
blanket. I'm sure he'll be more comfortable on them than
the standard Navy-issued sheets and pillows.

I love having Snookums home. I'm having a hard time
enjoying him, though, because I keep ticking down the time
until he has to leave, in my head. I'm more focused on the
time we don't have left than the time we do have left. I
need to stop and enjoy having him while I do. I'm going to
go do that now. Ciao.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention, Snookie loved my get-up
last night. I know he did, because when I sat down on his
lap he had a pistol in his pocket (if you know what I
mean :) I wore those boots today (because I wanted to look
sexy), but that was a bad idea. I haven't worn stilettoes
in years. My feet are not happy with me, but pain is
beauty! Ciao, for real this time.
