No More Body-Bashing For Me

Snookums is giving me a much-wanted break from baby duties
tonight(feeding Kiki dinner, getting her ready for bed and
giving the bedtime bottle). He doesn't do it all that
often, but when I mention that I need a break, or am on
the verge of nagging, he's quick to assume the duties of
baby care. All I had to say tonight was "If I remember
correctly, I didn't lay on top of myself, grunt like a
bear and get myself pregnant, but I could be mistaken". He
laughed, but got the point. A smart remark or facetious
comment is all it takes for me to get what I want :)

Aside from getting some laundry done, it felt like I spent
the whole day walking. I didn't realize just how much time
and energy it would take to burn those 1000 calories. But
I did it, and then some. Here's the word from my pedometer:

21,456 STEPS
8.127 MILES
1120 CALORIES

Setting and achieving a goal is such a wonderful feeling.
Not only did I accomplish the calorie goal. I accomplished
the water intake goal I don't think I told you about. I
wanted to consume 80 ounces of water (10;8 ounce glasses),
but I blew that goal out of the water (sorry for the pun).
I drank 120 ounces (15;8 ounce glasses). That should take
care of any dehydration. I know I've got to keep it up
everyday, though. Not just once in awhile. I'm usually so
good about getting enough fluids, something in my
lifestyle changed, I guess and now I need to be more
mindful to get it in.

Since I actually hate water very much, I found a more
tasty way to get in non-caloric fluids. It's still
basically water, just mildly flavored (in a good-for-you
sort of way). I brew 30 ounces (that's the size of my
favorite cup. I got it at the hospital when I was in
labor, but I digress) of very weak green tea and sweeten
it with 4 tablespoons of Splenda, then drink it at a
tepid, mildly warm or room temperature. Since the body
absorbs fluids more readily when they're closer to body
temperature. Not too hot, not too cold. I'm all about
absorption. I've been doing this for about a year, now. I
had polyhydroamniosis (too much amniotic fluid) when I was
pregnant and it left me terribly thirsty all of the time.
This was how I got in enough fluids without having to
choke down plain water. Green tea (and most all other
teas) have high levels of antioxidants that protect the
cells from damage and help make you healthier. I love tea.

I'm curious to see what the scale says tomorrow morning.
I'm hoping for 176, but if I'm still 177 I won't be too
upset. That just means my body is taking a break and will
pick up where it left off when it's ready. I'm learning to
have patience and tolerance for my body. I must love
myself body and soul if I truly want to be whole and
healthy. No more body-bashing for me! Ciao and goodnight.
