My Life Thus Far
.:~*~:.Retail Therapy.:~*~:.
Snookums had to work late tonight. Later than Annie's
daycare stays open, so I had to take her to school this
morning. When I woke up, I was feeling completely down in
the dumps and it only got worse as the morning progressed.
By the time I'd gotten both girls dressed (today was
picture day for Annie, so this was very intensive) and in
the car, I was really in need of some comforting. I
decided that only one thing could make me feel better:
.:~*~:.RETAIL THERAPY.:~*~:.
This is the general term used for any act of shopping that
eleviates, masks or in any other way addresses pain of
every kind. Self-medication of the most harmless kind (if
you can afford it!) and oh, so soothing. I have to say,
shopping is my all time favorite pursuit. I'm not
interested in the psychological reasons why shopping makes
me feel better, I'm just glad it does.
So, here's the rundown of my emotional purchases. I got a
lovely pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction tennis shoes. They
are outrageously comfortable! My feet are very happy. I
got a Liz Claiborne train case in bright orange (such a
happy color) with a matching makeup bag. It should work
out great for organizing all of my numberous hair
accessories and brushes and since I don't own much makeup
(Clinique is expensive, but sooo worth it), the little bag
that came with it is the perfect size. I also bought 3 new
blouses. 2 chocolate brown, 1 turquoise blue. Explaining
what they look like would be too difficult. I found some
more spiced pumpkin room spray (so I had to get that). I
didn't just spend on myself. Whoever is with me when I'm
emotionally shopping also reaps the benefits. Today, it
just so happened to be Kiki. I got her a Reebok jogging
suit (too cute!), white baby sneakers, tights to go under
her dresses since it's getting cold, 2 new sleepers (pink
and fuzzy, so she'll sleep warm) 5 bibs, 6 pairs of socks,
a new hat and mittens and a new toy (it spins around and
rattles and keeps her interested for seconds!) What can I
say, I love to shop, I'm good at it and now I feel better.
All this therapy didn't cost much. Just a little over
$250. What a small price to pay for happiness.
I'm going to go for now. Snookums has duty tomorrow, so he
wants sex tonight. How can I deny him? He just paid for my
therapy :)
