My Life Thus Far

Venting and Rambling

I wish I had something interesting to write about, but I
don't, so I'll just tell you about my day, as usually. I
went for a walk. Not as long as yesterday's but still
pretty good. 3 and a half miles, 500 calories burned.
Nothing much else to say, really. The rest of my day was
spent on the couch and I made lasagna for dinner. THE END

Writing about the mundane, monotonous, insipid little
things that happen every day of my life is getting old. I
wish I had more interaction with other people. More
stimulation with my peers. Something to do other than mull
over which variety of strained or pureed vegetable Kiki
would like to try next. I'm bored. I watched Dr. Phil
tonight and the whole show was about "Wifestyles". How
women feel about the role of wives and what men expect
from their wives. Let me just say, I'm glad my husband
doesn't expect me to greet him at the door wearing a
french maid costume, but some of the other things rang
true. One woman insisted that a woman is incapable of
being the best wife/mother she can be if she works outside
of the home. I guess I can agree with that to an extend,
but no one is meant to be perfect, so why reach for the
unattainable? Strive to attain happiness. For yourself and
your family.

I'm not feeling like I'm using my full potential sitting
at home. I love nurturing Kallista and all that, but I
miss adult interaction and there's no way I'm going to get
that at home, by myself, when I'm alone with a baby all
day. I went to school. Learned a profession. Now I want to
use it. I'm just torn, because I do value the time I spend
with my family. I have a tendency of overextending myself
when it comes to work. I take on more and more hours and a
part time job turns into overtime and then I never get
time with my family. I need to learn to set bounderies, so
I can have the best of both worlds. But, it'll be awhile
before I have to learn that lesson. At least until
January. That's the latest Kiki should have to wait to be
placed in the Jackson Park Child Development Center
(Annie's daycare). You'd think they'd have more spots
open, seeing as how it's the military's daycare and they
can't even accomodate all of their personnel's children.

Helena sent us a slew of e-mails today about our trip to
the Oregon coast next month (she wants to come earlier to
drop off Christmas presents) and pictures of Dan's new
Boston Whaler (he gets new fishing boats like they're new
shoes). I'm looking forward to our vacation SOOOO much. I
need to break out of the rut I'm in. Snookums, me, the
girls, and Helena (maybe Dan, if he doesn't have to work)
are going to stay at their cabin in Neskowi, Oregon (on
the beach) for a week. I haven't been there before, but if
it's half as nice as their condo on Lake Huron, I'm game.
I love the water and I'm grateful to have in-laws that
love the water too (and have bought property on the water,
so I can enjoy without the expense!) I'm not completely
materialistic, but I'm glad I married well :)

I guess I'll go to bed now. I got a little venting off of
my chest and a little rambling, too, so now I'm feeling
better. Ciao until next time.
