Divining Women

I didn't write this morning, because I didn't have
anything worth writing and I'm okay with that. I still
don't really have much to say, but I can at least tell you
how my day was.

Kiki and I went for a walk, as usual. Only, today we took
a little side trip. I strapped Kiki into her carrier and I
put my backpack on and we made a trip to the library. I
had a few books that neeeded to be returned and I wanted
to get another one to dive into.

When we got home, I did my workout, tidied up the house a
bit and then parked myself on the couch with a fuzzy
fleece blanket, my candles going and a nice cup of tea.
Kiki took a 3 hour nap, so I got in some fabulous "me"
time. The book I picked up at the library is called
Divining Women by Kaye Gibbons and so far, it's an amazing
read. In 3 hours I've already gotten half way through it,
and it's over 200 pages. It's about 2 southern women
around 1918. One is being horribly neglected and abused by
her husband (while she's very pregnant and experiencing
complications) and the other woman his her niece, who came
to help her in the final weeks of her pregnancy. Together,
they are trying to change the way the woman sees herself
and how her husband treats her. It's a page-turner. My
description isn't doing it justice. I didn't even realize
it until I got the book home, but I've got Kaye Gibbons'
first novel, Ellen Foster, in my own personal collection.
I guess when I find an author I like, I stick with them,
even subconsciously!

I'm going to bed now. I've been feeling sleepy all day,
and now it's time to do something about it. Ciao.
