My Life Thus Far

Scientific Experiment

I performed a very scientific experiment today. When I got
up this morning, I put on my pedometer. I wanted to see
how many steps/miles/calories I could rack up on a normal
day. I've had it on from 7am-10pm. Well, the results are
in: 14,100 steps/ 5.340 miles/ 825 calories. Those stats
are from just the steps I've taken today. They don't take
into account any other metabolic functions or calorie-
burning activities I did today. I wore the pedometer while
I did my step workout and when I went for my walk, but I
didn't wear it during pilates, because it got in the way
of some of the movements. It wouldn't have registered
anything anyway, since you don't step while doing pilates.
I'm surprised at how many steps I've taken. I've read that
the optimum target to hit per day is 10,000 steps. I was
thinking I'd have to work up to that, but I blew it out of
the water. I'll admit, I did take a 2 1/2 mile walk this
morning, so if I hadn't went for a walk, I would have had
to work to reach 10,000 steps. Pedometers are a good
motivational tool. Watching the numbers go up is so
inspirational.

I've been scrambling around, like a chicken with my head
cut off, trying to keep myself busy. Now, I've got nothing
to do. Today, I spent most of my time trying to put steps
on the pedometer and doing my usual workout, but other
than that, I just sat around. I did paint my finger and
toe nails and watched a lot of television. My favorite
show, the OC came on tonight and I watched that. I got so
bored, I started thinking about my friend Genevieve. We
use to work together, but she quite and I stopped working
and we eventually lost contact. We reconnected a couple of
months ago, but somehow, we didn't keep up the connection.
I decided to give her a call, seeing as how I didn't have
anything else to do. We talked for about 45 minutes about
mostly the Navy. She got married a few months ago and her
husband is in the Navy, also. Now we've got more in common
than we did before. We bitched about how being left behind
sucks and all that crap. She's coming over tomorrow to
meet Kallista. She was so nice to me while I was pregnant
(and still working and going to school). It'll be great
seeing her, again.

I think I'll go for now. I'm pretty tired. I slept so well
last night, I'm hoping to repeat it again tonight. Ciao.
