Minimalism Is A Great Thing

As I predicted this morning, It's my honor to announce
that I finished everything I wanted to get done and then
some. The closet looks FABULOUS. The red bins look so
clean and modern. I know plastic storage containers aren't
exactly the height of fashion, but they do look a bit
trendy. I just love how organized and easy to find
everything is now. I threw out 2 13-gallon garbage bags
full of paper, trash and crap from that damn closet. The
great thing is that it ended up making me get other places
in the house clean, because I'd find something that needed
to go in the desk, but the desk was a mess, so I cleaned
out the desk. I found something that should be in
the "junk" drawer in the kitchen, but it wouldn't fit, so
now the junk drawer isn't so junky anymore. It's great. I
feel so much lighter without all the clutter weighing me
down. A cluttered surroundings is like a ball and chain.
Minimalism is a great thing.

The mums and asters look lovely on the patio. The colors
are so vibrant. They just pop against the rhododendron's
bright green leaves. I love our back yard. It's fenced in
with a beautiful hedge, instead of a traditional wooden or
chain link fence and it's like a secret garden with all of
it's old growth trees and bushes. They are well-
established and healthy plants. And we have a magnificent
view of the sound from the patio. I can see Snookum's ship
across the water. The Naval Shipyard is directly across
Dyes Inlet. I'm not looking forward to the day I watch his
ship pull out, with him on it, for a 6 or 9 month voyage.
I don't have to think about that right now, so I won't.
Speaking of Snookums, though. I got a lovely surprise when
I turned on the computer. An email from him! I wasn't
expecting to hear from him until the Reagan pulled back
into port, so it was a nice surprise. He's doing well and
he's enjoying the learning experience he's recieving.

Taking the girls to get their pictures done was daunting
to say the very least. When I got there, the place was so
crowded and busy. I thought picking a day in the middle of
the week, with no major holidays near by would ensure me a
quiet studio, but no such luck. Our appointment was at
6pm, Brigette (the photographer) didn't get to us until
almost 7pm. People were coming in to pick up portraits,
calling to make appointments, asking questions. I was
patient, though. I was too busy hoping Kiki wouldn't get
sleepy (and cranky) before we could even get started.
Eventually the horde of people subsided and we were able
to get started. Kiki decided that nothing was funny and
she refused to smile. Every time I got Kiki to crack a
half-hearted smile and Brigette took the picture, Annie
had gotten bored and was looking off into space, or was
playing with the hem of her dress or twirling her hair.
Orchestrating 2 fidgety children is HARD. Thankfully (24
shots later) I managed to get 6 poses of the girls that I
love. They'll be ready for pick-up October 13. I CAN'T
WAIT! I know they will be absolutely fabulous.

Well, I'm going to retire. I'm so ready for a good night's
sleep. I don't think I can even manage to eek out a
Pilate's workout. After what I did today. I don't even
feel guilty. Ciao.
