My Life Thus Far

BEWARE: This Is A Long One

This day went by so fast. It seems like I just woke up and
now it's almost time for bed. I'm tired, so that's a good
thing. Let me break my day down into parts, because my
brain is too lethargic for anything more complicated.

I started the day with a walk. I walked about 3 miles and
it felt great. The weather is getting more chilly here,
especially in the morning, so I walked at a pretty brisk
pace (for me). I covered 3 miles in 45 minutes. My
pedometer told me that I burned 404 calories. I love that
little machine. It gives me so much encouragement.

When I got home, Snookums and I took a shower together
(for the last time before he leaves) and we prepared the
children for an outing. Getting them dressed, fed and the
diaper bag packed and everyone loaded into the car. It's
quite the logistical nightmare, at times. But, today went
fairly smoothly. Annie is going through a "big helper"
phase, so she actually did help.

We did a little more shopping, a continuation of the
shopping we did yesterday. Snookums bought me more
jewelry. Another earring and necklace set (which I love).
I think he's trying to make me feel better about him
leaving tomorrow. I've told him, he doesn't have to buy me
things to make me happy. I'm just happy being with him,
but he's done this as long as I've known him, so there's
no stopping him now. We went out to lunch after we
finished and once again, I did well. We went to a teriyaki
restaurant and I had a vegetable bowl. I only ate a few
bites of the rice and ate a good amount of the vegetables.
I'm proud of the fact that food isn't as important to me
as it use to be. I've come to learn that you don't have to
be eating to have fun and that having a good time doesn't
require binging on unhealthy foods. I've had a great time
over the past few days and I haven't over-eaten once. If I
said I wasn't allowing it into my body, I meant it and I
didn't eat it if it was offered (like the bread basket
full of bleached white bread at JJ's yesterday). I get
such a sense of accomplishment when I leave a restaurant
knowing I didn't blow my whole week's worth of exercise
out of the water.

When we got home, Snookums finished packing his seabag and
I did some rearranging. Kiki made the transition from
bassinet to crib, without a hitch, so I took on the
disheartening task of taking apart her bassinet and
repositioning all of the furniture that had been displaced
by the bassinet. I put the rocking chair back in our
bedroom, which had been moved to the office. I put her
jumperoo in the office where the rocking chair had been,
her swing where the jumperoo had been in the living room
and the play pen where the swing had been. That probably
made no sense, but the object of the reshuffle was to get
all things baby out of our bedroom. It worked. We have our
tropical oasis back, minus baby gear. After all of that
furniture movement, the house was being taken over by dust
bunnies, so I dusted, vacuumed, swept and mopped. And gave
the house a light spraying of pumpkin pie room spray and
the furniture a spritzing of gingerbread linen water. The
smell is quite luscious and fall-like.

By the time Snookums had finished packing and I'd finished
cleaning, it was almost 7pm. Well past our dinner time, so
Snookums went to Taco Bell, got him about 1,000,000
calories of burritos, tacos and gorditos. He brought Annie
a happy meal from McDonald's and me a California Cobb
salad. I must admit, it was good. It had baby greens, egg,
bleu cheese, cherry tomatoes, bacon bits and grilled
chicken. I used half a packet of light Italian dressing
and kind of picked through the toppings to get to the
greens and I ate the chicken (which was quite tasty). I
had a yogurt along with it, just for some added protein
and calcium. Salads are becoming my best friend. Every
place seems to have one, so I can eat healthy almost
without trying.

Well, for someone who was so tired, I sure did write a
novel. The truth is, Snookums is watching a football game
(I hate football) and I've got nothing better to do until
it's over :) I still want to spend time with him, so I'm
waiting until it's finished, so we can spoon before going
to bed. Ciao, until tomorrow.
