My Life Thus Far

I'm Burning My Scale Today

I woke up this morning to an empty bed. Snookums has duty
today and left around 6am. I'm okay with it, though. If I
wasn't, it wouldn't matter much anyway. Snookums leaves
for San Diego in a week, exactly. Next Saturday. He'll be
gone for a week or so. I'm mentally preparing myself for
juggling all of the aspects of our family life. I've
always made sure that there was nothing I couldn't handle
in his absence (like getting Annie to school and my
work/school schedule, which doesn't matter right now).
When you are the wife of a military man, you learn to put
yourself last. This is the only place I get to put myself
first. I have no way of going for walks on weekends when
Snookums isn't home. During the week when Annie is in
school, I can put Kiki in her CozyRider (front carrier)or
stroller and go, but on weekends I can't do that. Annie is
too little to keep up or walk the distances I walk. And
she definitely doesn't need to lose any weight. I don't
have any friends for her to stay with and it would just be
complicated anyway. That's why we're getting a treadmill,
so I can still get exercise when Snookums isn't home to be
with the girls. Pilates is great for stretching,
strengthening and toning, but it isn't a huge calorie
burner.

I'm burning my scale today. I got on it this morning and
it said I was 3 pounds heavier!!! I know that can't be
right. I've eaten nothing but healthy foods, thousands of
calories lower than my recommended calorie intake and I
get more than regular exercise. This is exactly why you
shouldn't weigh yourself everyday. I know that there are
many factors that can affect your weight (water retention,
sodium intake, time of day, etc.) but it doesn't make you
feel good to see such a drastic upswing on the scale, when
you haven't done anything wrong! I haven't even SMELT
anything fattening, greasy, high caloried, or sugary.
Losing weight can be a frustrating thing. I'm not
discouraged by it though, because I know I've done nothing
wrong, everything right, and it's probably connected to my
period, or some other benign reason.

Well, Annie wants her lunch. She's been hounding me for a
bologna sandwich for the past 15 minutes, so I must oblige
her. Ciao.
